Call numbers are used in libraries to classify an item (e.g., a book, a journal, a DVD) and indicate its location on the shelves.

All English materials in the HKBU Library are classified under the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme, e.g.:

332.6 T143F 2004

Chinese materials in the HKBU Library are classified under either the Chinese Material Classification Scheme (Lai Scheme) or the Chinese Library Classification Scheme (CLC Scheme), e.g.:

563.5 7142 2002 (Lai Scheme)

D 442.7 Z50A 2009-10 (CLC Scheme)

Please refer to How do I find an item on the shelf? for more details on locating an item in the Library.
